Technology offers promising new avenues for professional learning like video consultation, “bug-in-ear” coaching, personalized professional learning “playlists,” and even virtual reality. But how do we make sure that tech-supported professional learning maintains the necessary focus on quality, that it is collaborative, sustained, job-embedded, and data-driven? How do we ensure that convenience and accessibility don’t overshadow depth and student needs? This issue will explore these questions and others, and highlight successful ways technology is enhancing and improving professional learning. How do we create schools that are welcoming and productive learning environments for all? This issue will explore the role of professional learning in ensuring that every student feels safe, supported, and successful at school. Articles might cover topics such as inclusion of students with special needs in mainstream classrooms, increasing instructional rigor for English Learner students, addressing implicit bias among teachers and/or students, and improving social and emotional learning strategies. Priority will be given to articles that focus on building educators’ capacity for ongoing practices rather than short-term intervention programs.
