Educators from several districts around the state came together to learn more about the power of teacher leadership and how it can lead to increased student achievement. The workshop was facilitated by Cindy Harrison, international consultant, author, and former Director of Staff Development in Adams 12. Participants looked at a variety of formal and informal roles that can be taken by teacher leaders & they explored the relationship of teaching expertise to effective teacher leadership. Time was provided to examine ways to design structures and provide opportunities to enhance teacher leadership.
Participants were given a copy of the new Teacher Leader Model Standards and had time to work collaboratively to examine these new standards. To get your own free copy of the standards, go to the following website: www.teacherleaderstandards.org. They also explored a variety of tools that could be used to implement the new standards.
