Data Conversations for 21st Century Schools

November 3, 2010

Chris Bryan, Heather Clifton, Cindy Harrison, Rob Nickerson

November 3, 2010

During this challenging workshop participants examined 5 different types of data conversations. For each type, the purpose, data sources, frequency and focus of each conversation were discussed. They also explored a variety of templates, including their purposes, uses and potential challenges. Additionally, the culture needed for successful data conversations was examined as well as the roles for administrators, teacher leaders and coaches.

When asked what was the best part of the day’s conversations, we heard some of the following responses:

  • The opportunity to process the information with colleagues from other districts was so valuable.
  • We felt affirmed for what we are doing at our school.
  • We were able to discuss new information in depth.
  • Our conversation was reflective and deep.

Thanks to our outstanding presenters for sharing their expertise with us!
