“This was an excellent workshop! Thanks for sharing your expertise and giving us time for collaborative learning.” That was just one of many positive participant comments written on the evaluation forms. And it truly was an outstanding morning of learning and networking. We heard from educators Linda Barker, Chris Bryan, Lois Easton and Kathy Nutting. Each shared information from their area of expertise and provided time for participants to internalize the information using specific processing strategies.
Participants gained perspective about current Colorado policy and legislative action and its impact on teachers and student learning. They also examined parts of Linda Darling-Hammond’s landmark study of professional learning, “Professional Learning in the Learning Profession: A Status Report on Teacher Development in the U.S. and Abroad.” This study looks at ways to increase student success and close achievement gaps.
Thanks to the 45 educators who attended from around the state. Aurora Public Schools wins the prize with 23 attendees. We look forward to seeing you in the 2009-2010 school year at future Learning Forward Colorado events. Our Professional Learning Team is currently planning a line up of excellent offereings.
